The Year Is Beginning To Grow Up!

“Lantern Walk” by Giuliana Serena . . . This weekend brings one of the cross quarters of the year. For those of us in the Northern Hemisphere, we now find ourselves halfway between Midwinter Solstice and Spring Equinox! If you’re on the South side, you’re between Midsummer Solstice and Autumn Equinox. Either way, this turning of the year offers a gentle reminder to check in with ourselves and our environment, and take a moment to honor the unique experience of this particular transition. Transitioning to Autumn

|| Autumn by Alphonse Mucha || Along with the brilliant Full Moon, today also happens to mark one of the Cross Quarters of the Wheel of the Year. Here in the Northern Hemisphere, we find ourselves at the midpoint between the Summer Solstice and the Autumn Equinox, and as I like to call it, the transition from Late Summer to Early Autumn. At this time of year, we are reminded of the great abundance of energy and life force that surrounds [...read more...]

Midwinter Morning

This morning we climbed up the Northern hills of our valley to welcome back the Sun… We got to watch the sun peek over the ridge line into a clear blue sky, a welcome sight after weeks of haze and little sunshine. As the sky grew lighter, and the dawn’s rosy glow swept across the Western Mountains, we celebrated the rebirth of the Sun from Winter’s long night, and welcomed in the light of the new year. Winter Solstice beckons us to dive into the dark of winter’s womb, to let go of our fears and set loose [...read more...]

All Things Move Into Harvest's Sphere

The Wheel rolls more, and Autumn returns. Cooler the rain; the Sun lower burns. The coloring leaves presage the Year: all things move into harvest’s sphere. I vow to savor fruits first picked; nor into grief shall I be tricked. I vow to offer what once I spurred, and face the Turning reassured.   – Celebrating the Seasons of Life, Ashleen O’Gaea   This week we are halfway between Midsummer Solstice and Autumn Equinox*, another opportunity to celebrate the seasons of life! Now is a time to begin to take in and process [...read more...]
